The National Agricultural Museum of Korea, discovering value in the footsteps of agriculture to design the future
The site of the National Agricultural Museum of Korea conveys the enduring historical significance of agriculture on the Korean peninsula.
It is where the relics of Yeogisan Mountain, where the carbonized rice from the Prehistoric Period, was found. Chukmanjae Irrigation Facility built by Jeongjo of Joseon for self-sufficient farming is located close to the museum. Also, the Gwoneop mobeomjang (Agricultural Promotion Center), built in 1906, and the former building of the Rural Development Administration shared the same site. Now, the National Agricultural Museum of Korea is located at this historic site, bearing the significance of its role.
In Korean, there is a saying; Nongjacheonhajidaebon. Which means that agriculture is the most important foundation of the world. As such, the power of feeding and helping people grow and live together is rooted in the inclusiveness and growth potential of agriculture.
We will continue to learn the history and culture of the past to have it serve as a foothold for tomorrow, striving to promote the significance and potential of Korean agriculture.
